The South Fork of the Crow River flows through Hutchinson and is contained by a dam. A reservoir or millpond was created by the dam and has had many purposes in the past. In the millpond, a fountain was installed in approx. 2000 as a point of interest and to set the community apart from others. Having spoken with people in the community, some love the fountain, some hate it, and some ridicule it. Tragically, during the winter of 2006-07, vandals stole the fountain's electrical extension cord - presumably for the copper in it and rendering the fountain inoperable. To this point the fountain has not been repaired and is still in dry dock. So for those who love and miss the fountain, I give you the fountain.....
